Our apostolic activities lie in areas related to Catholic education. This usually involves such activities as:
- Preparing and coordinating R.E. Programmes
- Writing text-books
- Class-room teaching Assistance to Home-School families
- Giving lectures/talks/conferences on faith-topics
- Writing for and editing Catholic publications.
We only
engage in part-time apostolic work, thereby remaining free to carry out the
duties of the liturgical celebration, study and prayer in the specific Dominican charism to
which we are committed.
Currently we
also serve the families of Saint Mary MacKillop Colleges Wagga Wagga. The
Sisters teach part-time in the college, are in charge of its Religious
Education Program, teach RE and other subjects.
The Conventual Sisters of St Dominic have been involved with Saint Mary MacKillop Colleges, Wagga Wagga - an independent, counter-cultural Catholic school - from the outset. They wrote (and teach) the Year 7 – 10 RE programme: 'The Faith of the Church' and the classical 7 - 10 English Literature programme. They also teach Religion, Church History and Scripture from K - 12, and a variety of other subjects in the Secondary school. To safeguard their religious life, however, the Sisters teach in the mornings only and devote the rest of their day to the monastic observances of prayer, work, study and silence with God. (See Typical Day tab above.)
